Boys and girls in grades 1-6 are invited to participate in games and challenges including football (kicking and passing), basketball (dribbling and free throw shooting), soccer (kicking and dribbling), baseball and softball throwing, track (200m run and standing broad jump) and general events such as hula hoop and jump rope.
“It’s one of the annual benefits we do every year for the youth,” said Joe Thompson, Optimist Club president.
Students will bring home a sign-up sheet from school and parents need to return the completed form to school by Wednesday, March 25. All events are free, and walk-ups are welcome.
Thompson said Optimists are able to host the event free of charge to participants every year through annual fundraisers.
All campers will be presented T-shirts and hot dogs and drinks will be provided.
Awards will be presented to boys and girls from each grade division, based on total points for all events and good sportsmanship. There will also be drawings for door prizes at the end of the games.
Optimist Club members are encouraging parents to stay and enjoy the day with their children.
