The Stephenville Knights of Columbus are at it again - preparing fish for their annual Lenten Fish Fry.
The weekly event begins Friday, when from 5-7 p.m. at Newman Hall, the men will prepare a delicious meal of fish, cole slaw, corn, hush puppies, French fries, tea and dessert.
"As you know, there is a shortage of fish this year, especially American fish due to the BP mishap in the Gulf of Mexico," said Mike Coggins, publicity chairman for the Knights. "The Knights have only used American fish during the past 10 years and will continue to do so this lent to ensure the same quality the community has come to expect."
The event will be held every Friday night through April 15 with proceeds benefitting various area organizations.
Tickets for the all-you-can-eat meal are $10 per person and $8 for senior citizens and children 12 and under.
Proceeds from this week's event will benefit the Stephenville Senior Citizens Association.
On March 18 proceeds will go to TREAT; HOPE will receive proceeds from the March 25 fry; Cross Timbers Pregnancy Care Center will receive proceeds from the April 1 fry; Dublin Senior Citizen's Center will receive proceeds from the April 8 fry; and proceeds from the final fry on April 15 will go to the St. Mary's Catholic Church building fund.
Takeout service is available for $10 by calling 965-5693. Orders may be picked up at the back of Newman Hall on Centennial Street.
Newman Hall is located at St. Brendan's Catholic Church at 1444 W. Washington Street.
