A Stephenville man was arrested after he was caught allegedly peeping through a woman’s bedroom window about 2 a.m. Tuesday.
The 18-year-old victim told police she was at home on McNeill Street playing on a computer in her bedroom when she heard a noise outside. The woman told her dad and the two went outside to check things out. That’s when they found Damion Elliot Tugwell, 34, lurking outside.
Stephenville Police Chief Roy Halsell said Tugwell “took off running,” and the victim called police.
“The victim knew the suspect,” Halsell said. “She had been at a social function earlier that evening and the guy was there. She said he had made her nervous all night.”
When police arrived at the scene, they spotted the suspect, who fled again. A short time later, police found Tugwell hiding in some bushes on Washington Street, Halsell said.
Tugwell was charged with window peeping and evading arrest. He was released from the Erath County Jail after posting a $1,000 bond.
