Although Monday’s deadline for filing for a place on May 9 ballot is quickly approaching, many races in the city of Dublin remain uncontested.

Incumbent Tommy Sperry has filed for re-election in Ward 3, but no one else has filed for a shot at the four seats up for grabs in May.

Tom Gordon, who currently occupies Ward 1, has filed to replace Mayor Red Seigars. But in his bid for Mayor, Gordon will not file to keep his seat, leaving a vacancy in Ward 1. As of Monday, nobody had stepped up for the job.

There is also a vacancy in Ward 4, due to the recent move of Jimmy Williams. In addition to moving outside of the city, Williams’ term was set to expire, leaving another vacany.

On the Dublin ISD front, three seats are up for re-election. Only one of the current board members, Garron House, has filed to keep his seat.

Applications to run for city council or school board can be obtained from the Dublin County Annex. The last day to file is Monday, March 9.
