Declare the kitchen closed and make plans to attend the Stephenville Band Fans’ annual hamburger supper and pre-UIL concert this evening.

The benefit dinner and musical showcase will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the foyer of Stephenville High School. Following the meal, the public is welcome to stay and enjoy music in the school’s auditorium.

Plates are just $5 each and include a burger, chips, drink and a dessert. Proceeds from the meal benefit the Stephenville band program.

At 7 p.m., the student bands will begin their concert, including selections from the SHS jazz, concert and symphonic bands, followed by the Henderson Junior High symphonic band. The Winter Guard will also provide what is to be a superior performance as well.

Stephenville Band Fans president Laura Ann Priddy welcomes everyone out to the meal and concert, which will include 30-minute performance by each band.

In addition to the meal, the SHS bands will also be holding a “Kiss the Pig” fund raiser to help earn monies for their upcoming musical festival trip to Breckenridge, Colo.

Donations can be placed into several jars that contain the names of the local schools’ band directors. The jar with the most money at the end of the night denotes which band director will have to pucker up to a pig.
