The principal of Huckabay School was placed on paid administrative leave after he was arrested Saturday and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Christopher Morrow, 37, was arrested after he lost control of his Suburban and crashed while rounding an “S” curve on US Hwy 108 shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday, according to Corp. Kenneth Bratton with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Bratton said the Suburban rolled, then landed upright. Morrow then fled the scene, but was followed by witnesses who called authorities and reported that he had driven to his home on Overhill Street.

Bratton said Morrow refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. He was transported by ambulance to Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital where he also refused medical treatment. After leaving the hospital, Morrow was taken to the Erath County Jail. He was released after posting a $500 bond.

Huckabay Superintendent Cheryl Floyd said the school board will discuss the matter in closed session during Thursday night’s school board meeting. She said Morrow has been employed with the school district for two years.
