Two unsuspecting shoppers got more than they bargained for Saturday when a registered sex offender allegedly exposed himself in a parking lot.
According to Police Chief Roy Halsell, the incident occurred between 3:30-4:30 p.m. at a business located on West Washington Street. The complainants said they were loading groceries into their car when a man driving another vehicle pulled in behind them and exposed himself.
The man then parked his vehicle and went inside the store. The women wrote down his license plate number and called police, Halsell said.
When police ran a check on the plate, they discovered that the alleged exposer was the subject of another investigation by the department.
"We are currently working a case on the same individual," Halsell said.
While Halsell declined to reveal the suspect's identity, he said the suspect is a 49-year-old white male. The Stephenville resident is being sought for failure to register as a sex offender.
