Heidi Westbrook has a passion for agriculture.

That passion landed her the job as executive director of the Tri-County Agribusiness Association in January.

On Monday, Westbrook helped the organization celebrate 15 years of promoting agriculture throughout the tri-county area with an annual banquet at Legend’s Country Club. The event, complete with a steak dinner, musical entertainment by Matt and Michelle Ellis and live and silent auctions, raised nearly $5,000.

“The money will be used for scholarships, milk donations and other ag-related events,” Westbrook said.

Several new members joined the board of directors Monday, including Christie Beyer of Erath County Dairy Sales & Livestock Commission, Leslie DeJong of Horizon Dairy, Aaron Kiser of Evans Farms, Rachel Lawson of Bruner Motors and Gerrit Schouten of Lone Star Ag Credit.

Long-time supporters of the organization were also recognized for their support of the organization.

“It was a great night and a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and recognize the important role agriculture plays in our community,” Westbrook said.
