Many of Dublin ISD's teachers gathered on Friday to celebrate the end of the year and each other.

It was also a chance for school employees to visit and say goodbye to outgoing Superintendent Roy Neff.

The awards kicked off with Ken Drozeksi presenting the Mirabeau B. Lamar Award on behalf of the Masonic Lodge. Lamar is known as the "father of Texas education" because he appropriated land to be used for public schools. The award is given to a teacher who "sets their standards high" and who has touched the lives of students. The award was presented to a very surprised Julie Bowman, who received a medal and a certificate.
