Stephenville city attorney Randy Thomas is in ICU at Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital following an accident Sunday night.
Thomas was heading to Stephenville on State Highway 108 about 7:15 p.m. when he struck a horse on the highway at the intersection of FM 3025. He was taken by CareFlite to Fort Worth from the local hospital.
Thomas is reportedly in stable condition.
“He has a lot of facial trauma, but he’s going to be fine,” said Cpl. Kenneth Bratton with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Thomas became the city attorney in 1990 after serving as the city assistant attorney for several years.
Mayor Nancy Hunter said she wishes Thomas a quick recovery.
“I was shocked and saddened to hear about the accident, and it reminded me of how things in life can change in a split second,” Hunter said. “My thoughts and prayers go out to Randy and his family. I know that all of us at the city and on the city council wish him a speedy recovery, and look forward to seeing him back in Stephenville soon.”
