Less than two hours before polls close on Election Day, the Stephenville City Council will meet to discuss various issues affecting the city.

While the council’s agenda includes the consideration of an amendment to the Erath County Central Appraisal District’s (ECCAD) 2009 budget, Monday’s meeting of the ECCAD board may have postponed city talks on the issue (see appraisal story.)

In addition to items of regular business, the Planning and Zoning Commission will discuss the primary plat for Christy Plaza, Phase II.

The council will hear a report from the Solid Waste Management committee’s October meeting. The council will consider changing the committee’s name to the Environmental Management Committee. In addition, the council will consider the approval of a contract with BWR Corporation for the landfill expansion project, and consider approval of bid awards for landfill equipment. The council will also discuss the city’s solid waste contract with IESI, Inc., and discuss recycling options available to local residents.

The city’s Planning and Development Committee will also deliver a report on 2009 street projects, facilities, and park grants.

In other items of business, the council will hear an annual report from Datamax; consider approval of Ordinance No. 2008-25 establishing an identity theft prevention program; approve an addendum extending the depository contract for one year; and consider authorization to sell the pool’s filter disposal.

The city council meets at 5:30 p.m. tonight in the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 298 West Washington in Stephenville.
