A mother accused of putting her toddler in danger after a pit bull attacked him was among 33 individuals indicted last week by an Erath County Grand Jury.

Rachele Marie Dunnam, 18, was indicted for abandoning or endangering a child, a state jail felony. She is accused of letting a pit bull that had previously attacked the child inside the family’s home, where it happened again.

The child remains in child protective custody and will soon undergo reconstructive surgery, according to District Attorney John Terrill.

“It was a pretty bad situation, but it could have been a whole lot worse,” Terrill said.
