ARLINGTON - Stephenville and Aledo square off at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Cowboys Stadium in 4A Division II playoff action.

The winner is crowned area champs and moves on to face either El Paso Parkland or Hereford in the Region I quarterfinals next week.

Aledo beat Stephenville 20-16 in the season opener for both teams on Aug. 28 in Aledo. Both teams enter the game with extended winning streaks, Stephenville having won nine in a row and Aledo eight.

This is the ninth time in eight seasons the two storied programs have met. Stephenville holds a 5-3 advantage in the series, but Aledo has won the last two. Six of the previous eight meetings have been determined in the final minute.

Aledo 6, Stephenville 3, End of First Quarter

Aledo scored first on a 93-yard punt return by Cameron Cunningham, but the Bearcats missed the extra point and Stephenville drove the field for a 21-yard German Chavarria field goal.
