The city of Stephenville is hosting a new event - one that will get families into the Halloween spirit.

SPARD’s haunted campout will take place Saturday, Oct. 20, at City Park.

“We didn’t want this to coincide with other Halloween events like Safe Trick ‘R Treat,” said Jennifer Basham, director of community services. “Typically you can’t camp at City Park (unless in an RV), so this gives residents a chance to pitch a tent and camp close to home.”

The fun event will include s’mores (provided by the city), a costume contest, tent-to-tent trick or treating and best decorated tent contest.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Basham said.

The cost is $5 per person and children under 5 are free.

Tents can be set up at City Park in areas that are not irrigated.
