Stephenville resident Charly Sandidge wants to help celebrate your special occasion by creating the perfect treat in the form of cakes, cookies, cupcakes or cake pops.

Sandidge, 30, just opened her new business, Charly’s Bake Shoppe, and celebrated with a ribbon cutting with the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce.

“I got my start in cake decorating at Walmart in 2012 and it became a real passion for me,” Sandidge said.

Soon after leaving Walmart, Sandidge began creating custom cakes for family and friends from her home before leaving Stephenville to expand her knowledge of baking.

“I moved to Plano and worked as an assistant manager at a bakery in the area,” she said. “About three months ago I moved back home to start Charly’s Bake Shoppe.”

Sandidge grew up in Stephenville, graduating from SHS in 2006 and Tarleton State University in 2011 with a degree in business management.

One of her most popular items is a dark chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.

“It tastes like a Reece’s,” she said. “I made cupcakes for my ribbon cutting and everyone loved them.”

Sandidge says she makes everything from scratch, including her fondant.

“I only use three ingredients (for fondant) - marshmallow, sugar and vanilla,” she said.

Sandidge’s bakery is located inside her home. She can be reached at 254-485-6129.
