Labor Day, which is the first Monday in September, celebrates workers who have contributed to the well-being of the country and the holiday is coming up on Monday.

“The vital force of labor added materially to the highest standard of living and the greatest production the world has ever known and has brought us closer to the realization of our traditional ideals of economic and political democracy,” states the United States Department of Labor. “It is appropriate, therefore, that the nation pay tribute on Labor Day to the creator of so much of the nation’s strength, freedom, and leadership — the American worker.”

So, let’s take a look at what will be closed on Monday:

Stephenville ISD Stephenville City Hall and all other government offices All county, state and federal offices (except for first responders — fire, EMS and law enforcement) Local banks, credit unions and the Post Office The Stephenville Empire-Tribune However, stores like H-E-B and Walmart will be open for regular business on Labor Day.
