The Stephenville Police Department is investigating an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance that occurred Tuesday, according to a press release from the SPD.

Patrol officers responded to a theft at WalMart where Doreen Scrivner, 22,  and Lucian Gonzales, 22, were arrested for theft under $100.

Officer Borjon believing that there was more to this theft case returned to WalMart in an effort to locate a vehicle that may have contained additional evidence.

Officer Borjon located a vehicle in the parking lot that had been reported stolen from McKinney. Officers contacted McKinney PD and discovered that the suspect responsible for stealing the vehicle matched the description of Gonzales.

The keys to the stolen vehicle were found to be in the suspect’s property that had been secured at the jail. During the investigation while looking for evidence pertaining to forgery, a controlled substance was also located in Gonzales’ property. Gonzales was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility.

Additional charges for the stolen vehicle are pending.
