A new event for dog lovers is coming to Stephenville in November.

PAWS (Pets are Worth Saving) is hosting “Woofstock” from 5-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Stephenville City Park.

PAWS board members Kaitlyn Ruderer and Belinda Starnes spoke to the Stephenville City Council about the event on Tuesday.

“We are looking to add a new event to Stephenville that the entire community can benefit from,” Starnes told the council.

Proceeds will be used to replenish the PAWS funds so that the foster-based animal rescue organization can continue caring for injured and abandoned pets.

The group also hopes to use a portion of the proceeds to build a dog park at the Optimist-Jaycee Park.

Woofstock will feature pet contests, a weanie race, live music by Larry Joe Taylor, a kids zone, food trucks and vendors.

”We are really excited about this,” Ruderer told the E-T. “We hope the community will get behind us.”

There are plenty of sponsorships available. Businesses or individuals can purchase a $250 sponsorship and tables are also available for purchase.

“The table sponsors will have stage seating and tickets for the food trucks,” Ruderer said. “The beverage of their choice will be provided by PAWS.”

There are three levels of table sponsorships: $1,000 seats six, $2,000 seats 8 and $5,000 seats 10.
