If you missed your chance to win a designer handbag and see some of Stephenville’s finest walk down a runway, then make sure you don’t miss this year’s Heroes with Handbags benefit for the Paluxy River Children’s Advocacy Center starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Twisted J Live.

The event will feature Erath County first responders walking (or dancing) down a runway modeling designer purses that will be available to win.

“This is different than what we normally do and we know it’s fun for the folks who come,” said Stephenville Assistant Police Chief and PRCAC board member Jason Halsey. “This allows us to be more human and we do it because we know we’re raising money so we can help support children get through the traumatic experiences they’ve been through. That’s what it’s about, the children.”

Tickets are $50 and include 20 games of bingo — which get you a chance to win one of the designer handbags — food and fun.

Last year’s fundraiser raised more than $20,000 for the PRCAC.

The organization serves Erath, Hood and Somervell counties and its mission is to promote the healing of child abuse victims and their family members.

"Come to Heroes with Handbags and prepare to laugh, have fun with friends, hopefully win a designer handbag, and ultimately help us serve children in need in Erath County," said PRCAC community education coordinator Traci Cooper.
