The holiday weekend is approaching with some great area fun for the whole family. Make it a good one!

1. City of Champions Shootout

Don’t miss some soccer action at the 18th annual City of Champions Shootout event taking place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Stephenville Soccer Complex. For more information visit stephenvillesoccer.org.

2. Opening day at Splashville

The long awaited season is here and Stephenville’s waterpark, Splashville, will be open from 12-7 p.m. Saturday and 2-7 p.m. Sunday. Daily admission is $6 and a variety of classes will be offered throughout the summer. For more information contact Ashley Snyder at 254-918-1219.

3. FRED Talk: Biological Diversity Day

Take a trip to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and learn about diverse life on Earth at the FRED Talk: Biological Diversity Day event taking place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the center. The event is free to attend and will focus on Fossil Rim’s motto “everything is connected, so everything is affected.”

4. Essential Oils 101

Explore the basics of essential oils at a 101 course taking place 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the Stephenville Public Library. Attendees will receive an essential oil starter kit. For more information contact Michele Bryant at 254-485-8420.

5. Yoga at The Purple Goat

Enjoy a relaxing $5 morning of yoga when The Purple Goat teams up with Hot Yoga with Christi for a 45-minute session from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Sunday at the restaurant. The session is open to beginners and seasoned yogis alike and will help participants work on strength and flexibility.
