Make a trip to downtown Hico and enjoy a run, breakfast tacos and beer at the second annual Flacas Fitness & Brews Clean H20 Run 5K and 10K starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 28.

The proceeds will benefit clean water projects of Kids Across Cultures (KAC) with a goal to purchase 10,000 water filters for 10,000 families.

“The run is important because it shows what happens when people come together and support an idea,” said Brandynn Stanford with KAC. “Last year we raised over $2,700 while strengthening the local community and building connections between its members. That camaraderie is reflected in the fun atmosphere of the event.”

Those who sign up for the runs will cross the finish line to free tacos and beer.

“The race will be chip timed by Pro Fit Event Services and all participants receive a finisher medal,” Stanford wrote in a release. “First, second and third place medals will be awarded in the age categories as well. There will also be raffles and chances to win a variety of great prizes.”

Register by visiting www.runsignup.com or in person at Flacas Fitness & Brews. Entry fee is $55 and include a T-shirt, goodie bag, beer, tacos and a medal. Register by April 21 to be guaranteed a T-shirt.

“This run is for all types of enthusiasts — those who want to beat their best time and also those who want to simply walk and enjoy a slow pace,” Stanford said. “Everyone is welcomed and supported.”
