The weekend is approaching with some great family-friendly Easter events taking place in Stephenville. Make it a good one, and Happy Easter from the E-T!
1. Harper’s Heroes benefit roping
Don’t miss some high-speed roping action and help raise funds for a great cause at Harper’s Heroes third annual benefit roping event starting at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday at Lone Star Arena. The event will also feature vendors and T-shirts, hats and koozies for sale. This is a family-friendly calf roping in honor of Harper Lee — a girl who was born 14 weeks early. 2. Melvin Kinsey Memorial blood drive
Give the gift of life at the Melvin Kinsey Memorial blood drive taking place from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Stephenville Masonic Lodge. A breakfast will be served from 7:30-9:30 a.m. for those who wish to donate blood. For more information contact Johnny Hutchins at 254-396-1243.
3. Easter Fun Fair
If you’re looking for more Easter fun after the annual mEGGa Hunt, head to Cornerstone Assembly of God for its Easter Fun Fair taking place from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature food, games, prizes, inflatables and egg hunts for kids up to 12 years old.
4. 281 Speedway Easter celebration
Some racing fun for the whole family will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at 281 Speedway when C&S Promotions holds an Easter celebration race day event. The races will include IMCA Modified, Street Stock, IMCA Sport Compact, Elite Non-Wing Sprint Series, IMCA Sport Mod, IMCA I Stock and Factory Stock. General admission tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for seniors, military, first responders and students (ages 13 and up); $5 for kids ages six-12; and free for kids five and under. 5. Easter community service in the park
Join Elk Ridge Baptist Church for an Easter community service at 11 a.m. Sunday in Stephenville City Park. The service will be followed by a fish fry and egg hunt and will be held at the pavilion behind the Rec Hall. For more information contact Pastor Daniel McCabe at 254-485-4441.
