Jennifer Basham says she and her family are in the right place.

Basham was hired as the city’s new director of community services in February and since then has weathered an ice storm and a flurry of activity that has kept her busy.

“Two weeks after we moved here we were hit with (ice) storms,” Basham said. “It was great to see the community rally together after that happened, and it reaffirmed for us that we made the right decision to come here.”

Basham said she fell in love with Stephenville during the interview process.

“I love the people who work for the city and I knew we would work well together,” she said. “And the community was the size we were looking for.”

Before moving to Stephenville, Basham was the recreation manager for the city of Keller and prior to that she served as a recreation programmer in Fort Worth.

“Parks and recreation are my background,” she said.

But Basham is responsible for far more than that.

As director of community services she oversees all parks and open spaces (like the Bosque River Trail), recreation, the senior center, Splashville, library and airport.

She and her husband Ross have two children.
