The weekend is approaching and there is plenty of fun to be had while the kids are on spring break. Check out these area happenings and make it a good St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

1. Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Round up the family and head to downtown Dublin for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. Friday’s events will include a Veldhuizen cheese tour, lunch at Old Doc’s Soda Shop and tour of Dublin Bottling Works and events at the airport. 2. St. Patrick’s Day at The Purple Goat

Save room for some food and drink specials when The Purple Goat holds its St. Patrick’s Day event from 7 a.m.-midnight Saturday. Specials will include $5 jumbo green waffles, $2 16-ounce green beer and $2 12-ounce green margaritas. For more information call 254-965-4628.

3. Quilts on the Bosque

Browse a variety of new and vintage quilts when the Town & Country Quilt Guild holds its “Quilts on the Bosque” event from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Stephenville Historical House Museum. Admission is $5. For more information call 254-965-5880.

4. FRED Talk: Buzzard Day

Take a trip to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and celebrate an important native Texas bird at the FRED Talk: Buzzard Day event taking place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday starting at the center’s front gate in Glen Rose.
