A familiar face will lead the city’s newest venture - the establishment of the Tourist and Visitor Bureau.
Julie Crouch-Smith, who is the current executive director of the Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council, was tapped for the position that will begin on April 2.
“We believed this would be a very competitive position, but had no idea how competitive it would be,” City Administrator Allen Barnes stated in a press release. “The position drew interest not only from Texas but from several other states as well. The city had over 50 applicants for the position. In the end we really only needed to search in our own backyard to find the best of the field.”
The Stephenville City Council voted to create the Tourist and Visitor Bureau in December after stripping control away from the Chamber of Commerce as well as its hotel occupancy tax.
Crouch-Smith is a graduate of Stephenville High School and Tarleton State University.
“Julie will be a great addition to our already outstanding city executive team,” Barnes said. “She brings the enthusiasm and excitement that is needed to market Stephenville to our future visitors.”
Her office will temporarily be located at City Hall until a permanent location is found.
