Kimberly Barrier won her bid for Erath County treasurer against a well-known foe Tuesday in the Republican Party Primary.

Barrier, 41, received 52.04% of the vote against Kelli Raymond’s 47.96%.

“I am so excited,” Barrier said following the final results. “It was close and I was on pins and needles, but I worked very hard in the surrounding counties and I think that’s what helped me.”

Barrier is the financial controller for Buckhorn Pumps.

She was born and raised in Stephenville and has a bachelor’s degree and master’s from Tarleton State University.

Erath County treasurer Donna Kelly announced earlier this year that she would not seek re-election after holding the position for the past 30 years.
