A gas leak last night at Tarleton State University forced students to be displaced as frigid temperatures moved into the area, prompting university officials to close the campus on Tuesday.

Tarleton Honors Hall was reportedly evacuated about 6 p.m. Monday night and students were asked to report to the Student Center.

Some students were taken to hotels overnight while others stayed at the Student Center, according to the university’s Kyle McGregor.

The gas leak was repaired shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday and students were allowed to return to the Honors Hall.
