It is a story that has rocked the community: A young minister, father and by all appearances, a family man, arrested and charged with possession of child pornography.

Tim Simon, 33, was arrested last week and has since been released from the Erath County Jail after posting a $15,000 bond.

And while the church he once ministered works to steady itself and its parishioners, law enforcement officials continue to gather evidence to try and figure out exactly what they are dealing with.

“We have seized a number of his devices but they have not been analyzed,” said District Attorney Alan Nash. “We do not know what we are going to find, but right now it does not appear the victims are local.”

According to the arrest affidavit obtained by the E-T, authorities zeroed in on Simon after a cyber tip reported him to be the sender of a pornographic image of a child.

“Simon was interviewed and during the course of the interview he admitted to knowingly and intentionally going online and downloading pornographic images of children and sending them through Facebook,” the affidavit states.

Simon submitted his resignation as youth minister of Graham Street Church of Christ a day prior to his arrest.

Church elder Doug Svien told the E-T that the church is fully cooperating with authorities.

Simon has hired Stephenville attorney Shay Isham who declined to comment on the case.
