Aspen is a three-year-old male Akbash mix up for adoption at the Erath County Humane Society and though he is quite big, he is a sweetheart.

“He’s very, very sweet and would be a great family dog,” said ECHS Executive Director Diane McCoy. “Maybe not a family with small children because he’s big, but he would be a good dog to pal around with.”

Aspen is neutered and kennel trained and has been at the shelter for just over a month.

“Any kind of history on being a herding dog or guard dog is unknown, so we don’t want to adopt him out that way,” McCoy said. “But he would make a good family pet with a fence.”
