Skip cooking next Tuesday, Nov. 7, and head to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church for the 62nd annual taco lunch and Mexican supper.

Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. featuring tacos, chili, beans, nachos and homemade pralines. Plates will be available for $5 and $7.

The Mexican supper will be held from 5-8 p.m. featuring traditional enchilada plates for $10 (for adults) and $5 (for children).

“These are original recipes and with the enchiladas you can get a fried egg on top and if you haven’t had that one, it’s delicious,” said St. Luke’s Parish administrator Terri Binkley.

The proceeds go back into the community and last year’s event raised more than $8,500.

“And that was after expenses. Our goal is to get about $10,000 to put back into the community,” Binkley said. “There are different organizations we give to. Last year we gave to our DAV chapter, Backpack Buddies and different food pantries like Grace Place, so it all stays local.”

Take-out for both meals will be available and orders can be placed by calling 254-968-6949.

“I love that the community looks forward to this event,” Binkley said. “It’s a lot of work, but I like getting to see everybody come out each year.”
