Hurrah for Morgan Mill!
October is the start of fundraisers in Morgan Mill. Two major events in MM are happening in the next four weeks. The PTF will be asking for money on Saturday, Oct. 28 at their annual Spooktacular Fall Carnival. The Volunteer Fire Department will be having their annual pie and cake auction on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Kids from MM will be canvasing the neighborhoods for buyers for their raffle tickets. This year there are two raffle items: Raffle #1 is a 45 Yeti Cooler donated by the Long family and its value is $350; Raffle #2 is an outdoor glider donated by Diamond S Show Cattle and its value is $350.
Raffle tickets are $1 each, specifically for the item desired. Tickets can be purchased now until Friday, Oct. 27 for the child to be eligible for the King and Queen Top Sales prizes. Sales will continue through the Carnival itself, but only the money turned in by Oct. 27th will be tallied for prizes.
The top five sellers will be announced alphabetically before the coronation. The top male seller and top female seller will be crowned king and queen of the Carnival. Each week there are special prizes for the child and class that sells the most tickets.
On Oct. 27, the class that sells the most tickets will have an ice cream sandwich party courtesy of the PTF. This event is the only major fundraiser for the year. Let’s make it special. The PTF helps teachers with their supplies, gives the kids awards throughout the year, and collects box tops so that the entire school can go to Splashville.
Remember Breakfast will be Saturday, Oct. 14, at 7 a.m. This Saturday is going to be a busy day with all of the surrounding activities. Stephenville will have its Bygone Days on the Bosque. If you have never attended this historical happening, you will enjoy this entertaining chapter of history in our county’s history. Then there is Tarleton football at 2 and Sundown on the Square at five.
Bluff Dale is also in the midst of activities on Saturday.
Your MM School Board will be meeting on Monday, Oct. 16, at 5:30. The Community Supper on Thursday, October 19th will feature Tim Turnbaugh, from Stephenville. He has entertained us once before and everyone has asked that he return. Come and enjoy. Bring your favorite pot luck dish. The supper starts at 6:30.
