Walter Wood, the former director of finance for the city of Stephenville, has been charged with indecency with a child.
According to the arrest affidavit, a woman came into the Stephenville Police Department on Sept. 28 to report that 10 years ago Wood "climbed in to her bed, reached up under her shirt and began fondling her breast." She was 12-years-old at the time of the offense.
Wood was brought to the Stephenville Police Department on Oct. 4 for an interview and confessed to the act.
As of Friday afternoon, Wood remained held in the Erath County Jail and bond had not been set.
Wood, 63, was the city’s director of finance and administration for nine years. He retired in January 2017 and ran for city council in May, but lost to Rhett Harrison.
