The Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council is proud to host its third annual “An Evening with Don Edwards” concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Birdsong Amphitheater in Stephenville City Park.
The Grammy nominated cowboy balladeer continues to build a legacy which enriches our version of the American West.
“Edwards has been called the best purveyor of cowboy music in America today by the National Cowboy Hall of Fame,” said Mayor of Stephenville Kenny Weldon. “And we couldn’t agree more, we are so very blessed to present a concert of this caliber in the Cowboy Capital and this will be such an awesome event for our community.”
The free concert is once again underwritten by Bruner Auto RAM and the city of Stephenville.
The concert will feature opening act, Jean Prescott — an award-winning singer/songwriter recognized by the Texas Legislature for her contribution to the preservation of Texas history through her music. Jean is often called “The First Lady of Western Music.”
She shares her love of the western lifestyle and its traditions through songs about the real west of yesterday and today. The heart of her music is the stories in her songs about those who came before us when the west was wild and untamed as well as life in the west as it is today, sometimes still wild and untamed.
With a voice as big as Texas her songs are sure to go straight to the heart and her music is always toe-tapping good time.
“We are looking forward to having everyone out to hear Don Edwards and Jean Prescott for this free concert,” said Greg Bruner. “This will be another great evening under the stars for the whole family.”
