Erath County United Way is once again hosting its annual fish fry from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Newman Hall located at 1444 W. Washington Street.

The Stephenville Knights of Columbus will be frying up the fish and the plates will be served up with some yummy sides, which include french fries hush puppies, beans, coleslaw, ice tea and ice cream for dessert all for just $10 or $5 for children ages five-10.

“We are planning to feed around 1,000 people this year,” said fish fry chair and ECUW board member Shelley Gilliland. “And the road in front of Newman Hall, Centennial Lane, will be open for the drive thru and you can also do a phone-in order the day of by calling 254-965-5693.”

Proceeds will go toward ECUW in helping the organization reach its goal. Last year’s fish fry raised $7,500.

Tickets can be purchased at the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce, First Financial Bank, Lone Star Ag Credit, InterBank, Citizens National Bank, First Financial Bank Dublin and TexasBank. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Tim Turnbaugh will once again provide music at the event and the fish fry’s title sponsor H-E-B will serve ice cream.

“I like being able to serve the community while fundraising for United Way who gives back to various non-profit agencies throughout Erath County,” Gilliland said.
