Texstar Ford’s Summer Nights Concert Series continues Thursday with a performance by Gene Watson.
It’s the first time Watson, known for hits like “Love in the Hot Afternoon,” “Fourteen Carat Mind” and “Farewell Party,” has performed in the concert series.
“Every year we get a lot of suggestions and we had a lot of people request him,” said Doug Montgomery, owner of Texstar Ford. “So we gave it a shot and it all worked out.”
Watson is expected to take the stage about 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Birdsong Amphitheater at Stephenville City Park.
The free show will open at 8 p.m. with a performance by Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines.
Concert-goers are asked to bring chairs, blankets, coolers of drinks and snacks to listen to music under the big Texas sky.
The concert series concludes Thursday, Aug. 3, with the singer/songwriters performance featuring Larry Joe Taylor, Davin James, Richard Leigh and Keith Sykes.
