The Father’s Day weekend is approaching with some great area happenings for dads — or future dads. Make it a good one!

1. Free Texas Health maternity orientation

Make a trip to Texas Health Stephenville’s Belknap Lobby for a free Texas Health maternity orientation from 12-1 p.m. Friday. The program will offer information about your baby, your body and how the hospital can support you throughout your journey. To register please visit www.texashealth.org.

2. Camp Gladiator community workout

Get your sweat on at the free Camp Gladiator community workout from 8-9 a.m. Saturday at Stephenville City Park. All fitness levels and ages are welcome to attend and attendees are asked to bring their own dumbbells, yoga mat, water and a buddy. For more information contact Tiata Tooley at 817-517-9532.

3. On the Bosque Baseball Tournament

Come out to Stephenville City Park and cheer on area kids at the On the Bosque Baseball Tournament taking place Saturday and Sunday. The tournament will feature nine and under and 14 and under teams and winners will be awarded rings. 

4. Library’s picnic with pop event

Calling all dads! Round up your kiddos and head to the Stephenville Public Library for its free picnic with pop summer reading program taking place from 2-3 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature story time, archery and lunch with dad. Reservations are required so please call the library at 254-918-1240 to get your spot.

5. Celebrate Father’s Day

Show dad you care this weekend by doing something special. 281 Speedway will hold a Father’s Day weekend event starting at 7 p.m. Saturday with all fathers getting half price tickets. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center will also hold a special Father’s Day Sunset Dinner and Tour event. Reservations are required by calling 254-897-2960. Father’s Day was officially recognized as a holiday in 1972 by President Nixon.
