Emily Miller has been named Stephenville High School’s Class of 2017 salutatorian. Miller has a GPA of 104.069 and answered some questions about her future and time at SHS.
How do you feel about being the salutatorian of your graduating class?
It is such an honor to be salutatorian of the SHS Class of 2017. When I started high school, I never imagined I would end up here!
What will you miss most about high school?
I will miss all of my teachers and friends, especially the girls in Stings. I am so fortunate to be surrounded by a great group of peers and mentors who have made high school an amazing experience.
What is your best memory from high school?
My favorite memories are spending Friday nights cheering on the football team with the Stings. I love the crazy energy of the crowd, dancing to the marching band’s stand tunes, and the thrill of performing at halftime. Whether it was a hundred degrees, raining, or freezing cold, football games as a drill team member were always incredibly fun. It’s definitely an experience that I will miss.
Who has been a big inspiration to you through your high school years?
I would not have survived high school without the support of my amazing parents. In addition, I have been blessed by countless wonderful teachers whose patience and encouragement helped me grow from an awkward freshman into a confident senior. So many people have helped me in so many ways, and I am so grateful for each of them.
What are your plans after graduation?
I will attend Texas Tech University as a biology major and a member of the Honors College.
What is your career goal?
My goal is to practice medicine.
What are you looking forward to about the future?
I’m so excited to begin college and see what adventures lie ahead!
