he Bosque River Chapter of Daughters of the Republic of Texas will meet on Tuesday, April 11, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church Stephenville.
Members will display items which have been in their families for a long time and tell of their significance. Everything from old family pictures to bread kneading bowls and fragile china pieces to turkey bells will be shown. Guests are invited to join in the fun.
The chapter will also recognize San Jacinto Day, April 21, when the Texian army, led by General Sam Houston defeated the Mexican forces of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna in an 18 minute battle fought in present day Harris County. The battle, which took place in 1836 is marked by the San Jacinto Monument, the largest masonry column in the world.
Members of DRT are women who are direct descendants of men or women who served the Republic of Texas prior to February 1846.
