The Stephenville Lions Club recently honored C.H. ”Mickey” Maguire for his 70 years of membership in the club. He was awarded a 70-year pin along with a lion statue to commemorate the occasion and the club enjoyed singing Happy Birthday to him on his 95th birthday.

Lion President Frances Looney spoke of Maguire’s long years of service.

“Mickey regularly delivered Meals on Wheels, chaired the Fun-D Nights, and worked at numerous basketball tournaments. He also served as the president of the club from 1963 to 1964, was a zone chairman for many years and served in various other offices,” Looney said.

Mickey is known for pulling pranks on his fellow Lions, and many stories were shared at the celebration by fellow Lions Ken Luker, Gary Sult and Larry Smith.

Looney added that Maguire was awarded a life membership to the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville in 1983.
