Just before the Friday deadline, Walter G. Wood, former city finance director, and Nick Robinson, of Danny’s Flooring, filed their applications challenging Stephenville City Council incumbents who are up for re-election.
Wood filed for place 5 challenging incumbent Rhett Harrison and Robinson filed for place 1 challenging Mark McClinton.
For incumbents Ed Dittfurth and Cole Parks, who are seeking re-election to the Stephenville ISD board of trustees, it was smooth sailing. Neither will face an opponent in the May 6 election.
But the city council incumbents aren’t so lucky.
In addition to Wood and Robinson filing, David Baskett, president of Citizens National Bank, filed against incumbent Sherry Zachery for place 7 and local attorney Mandy McGee will face off against Doug Svien for place 3.
