Tournament action didn't quite start the way the Yellow Jackets wanted Thursday as they dropped their first game to private school Fort Worth Country Day.

Trailing by nine at halftime, 35-26, Stephenville cut their deficit to only one, 44-43, early in the third quarter.

After a Falcon timeout Country Day once again found their scoring form and ended the third quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 53-45 lead into the game's final quarter.

In the final eight minutes Stephenville couldn't break down the Country Day defense enough times, nor stop their offensive attack to form a serious comeback effort and were outscored 18-11 in the quarter to fall in the tournament opener, 71-56.

Coby Vandenberg led Stephenville in scoring with 20 points, while Clay Krause added another 12.
