STEPHENVILLE - Treston Ridge picked off passes in two of Eastern New Mexico's final four drives to help seal a victory for the Texans last Saturday and as a result was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

With Tarleton leading 26-10 with just over nine minutes left in the game, the Greyhounds went to the air looking for an answer. Eastern New Mexico turned to a flea-flicker but Ridge had other ideas as the senior safety made a diving interception to stop that drive.

Two drives later with Eastern New Mexico looking to pull within one possession, Ridge put the win on ice by stepping in front of the Greyhounds receiver with 2:02 left in the game for his second interception of the afternoon. He became the first Texan with multiple interceptions in a game since Charles Moore against McMurry on October 25, 2014. Ridge added nine tackles for the Texans.

Ridge becomes the second Tarleton defender to earn a Defensive Player of the Week award from the Lone Star Conference this season, joining Cody Burtscher who won the award on September 19. This is the first time since 2013 that Tarleton won multiple defensive league awards in a season.

Tarleton will come back to Stephenville this weekend for the homecoming game at 6 p.m. against Texas A&M-Kingsville. An audio and video broadcast of the game can be found on the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers on 90.5 FM or online at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive.
