FORT WORTH - Monday, Feb. 25, is the last day tickets will be sold for Breakfast with the Stars, a magical family event and fundraiser benefiting children at risk of hunger. The event beckons children and their parents and grandparents to come for breakfast with childhood heroes real and make-believe and stay for activities just for the kiddos.
Breakfast with the Stars will be held from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Tarrant Area Food Bank Warehouse at 2600 Cullen Street in Fort Worth. The event benefits the Food Bank's BackPacks for Kids weekend feeding program in 35 schools including Erath County.
Tickets are $20 for children 12 and under, and $40 for adults. They can be purchased online at www.tafb.org/anevents-breakfast.html or by calling 817-332-9177, ext. 132. Checks may be made out to Tarrant Area Food Bank and mailed to: Breakfast with the Stars, Tarrant Area Food Bank, 2600 Cullen St., Fort Worth, TX 76107.
Tickets for one child and one adult, which totals $60, can supply food for one child for 10 weekends of the school year. The cost of food for an entire school year for one child is $192. The Tarrant Area Food Bank BackPacks for Kids program feeds an average of 2,000 children each week.
At Breakfast with the Stars, guests will meet Yoda and Darth Vader of "Star Wars" fame, the Maverick's Champ mascot, Cinderella, Rocky Raccoon, real ballerinas and cheerleaders, Fort Worth firefighters, police and many more.
Kids can participate in gymnastics, martial arts, storytelling, fortune-telling, music-making, crafts, petting therapy dogs, Angry Birds games, interactive science exhibits and more, including creating colorful handprints on a canvas that will be preserved as a memento of kids helping kids.
