Special to the E-T

AUSTIN The Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) has named Tyler ISD Foundation Executive Director Larry Goddard as the association's 2010 Key Communicator. This prestigious award recognizes Goddard's significant contributions to the public understanding of the public schools in Texas through effective communications. Previous recipients include Ross Perot, Henry Cisneros, Mike Moses, Linus Wright and other pioneers in Texas education.

Goddard will receive his award from TSPRA President Steve Valdez at 4 p.m. Sept. 24 during the First General Session of the Texas Association of School Administrators and the Texas Association of School Boards joint annual con-vention. Over 6,000 public school officials are expected to attend this year's convention at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston where Goddard will be honored.

Goddard was born in Stephenville and lived here for 10 years. He will be thanking Stephenville ISD in his speech before one of the largest convention crowds in the state. He attended Chamberlin Elementary and wants to recognize his first grade teacher, Mrs. Cleghorn, and second grade teacher, Mrs. Moses.

"I've dedicated my life to being an advocate for good teachers and it started in Stephenville,e said Goddard. "I remember the commitment and dedication of the first educators in my life and pay tribute to them continually. I don't think I ever had the opportunity to thank the teachers at Chamberlin Elementary but hope their families know that they were appreciated and admired.e
