Establishing an endowment at Tarleton State University creates a legacy with the power to transform lives. Retired Army Col. Ray Yantis is changing lives through his recent generous gift that establishes the Col. Ray and Pat Yantis ROTC Scholarship Endowment. ?Col. Yantis is a highly decorated World War II veteran. Among his many honors, he received a Purple Heart, the Silver Star and the Bronze Star for his service in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Tarleton in 1940 with a degree in engineering.?"I am honored to be able to provide this gift to help support an ROTC cadet in their educational goals," Yantis said. "I proudly served my country, and I am deeply grateful to these fine Tarleton students who have chosen to serve as well."?Yantis' major gift will provide substantial scholarship support to active participants in good standing in the Tarleton ROTC program.?"Working with Col. Yantis on this gift was a truly rewarding experience," said Sabra Guerra, Tarleton's director of development. "To witness this very personal and sincere philanthropic dream was a gift in itself." ?
