The Carter Blood Center is going to be set up a mobile unit at the TxDOT office, located at 2281 E. Washington Street from 2:30-4:30 p.m. All donors will receive a free T-shirt and free cholesterol count. In addition, this time they are giving away coupons for a free pint of Blue Bell ice cream - a pint for a pint!

The Stephenville Rotary Club will meet at noon at Legends Country Club to hear a report on the "shelter love" program, which provides relief to refugees in Central America.

Students in grades 7-12 are invited to participate in a free leadership retreat from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Foster's Home Family Care Program. The event will include a free lunch and the TSU ropes course challenge. Registration begins at 8 a.m. For more information and to reserve a spot, call 968-8443.

A Madame Alexander exhibit is now on display Monday-Friday at the Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council through Aug. 24.

Saturday, August 14

An ice cream social will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Carlton EEC. Please bring ice cream or two of the following: sandwiches, chips and dips, vegetable tray, cake and cookies. There will be a silent auction of new and "gently used" items.

The Harbin Volunteer Fire Department will host a silent auction and barbecue fundraiser from 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at United Cooperative Services.

A benefit for the family of Melonie Parker, a young mother battling cancer, will begin at 6 p.m. at Melody Mountain Ranch. There will be a barbecue dinner, silent and live auctions and music by Courtney Patton.

Stephenville Chapter 801 Order of the Eastern Star will meet at 6:30 p.m. with a fellowship dinner. Patsy Hewlett of Granbury Chapter 530 will present a program honoring Dr. Rob Morris.

Turnbow Higgs American Legion Post 240 and Auxiliary Unit 240 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Post Home, located at 801 E. Washington Street.

VFW Post 9181 and Ladies Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. with a meal beginning at 6. Attendees are asked to bring a dessert. Anyone who has served in a war zone is invited to attend and bring their spouse.
