Special to the E-T

The Stephenville Economic Development Foundation (STEDCO) announces a 4-part Spring Learning Series on business financials. Scheduled as luncheon presentations in April and May, the series will focus on analyzing and interpreting financial statements. The series is designed to provide practical information on managing the financial condition of your business for a competitive advantage.

“In addition to business attraction and creation, economic development also rests on business retention and expansion,” said STEDCO President Ed Horton. “The emphasis of this series is about understanding key fiscal health indicators and using them to strengthen your business.”

The inaugural program from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. April 14 at the Hampton Inn will feature three Stephenville bankers, Ron Mullins with First Financial Bank, Joe Thompson from Texas Bank, and Jim Chambers from Town and Country Bank. The moderated panel forum will discuss how current economies are influencing financial statement trends, as well as the most common mistakes business owners make in managing their finances. The format will allow dialogue between the panel and attendees giving ample opportunities for questions and answers.

Subsequent topics for the April and May programs will be analyzing and interpreting financial statements, using financial ratios and trends in business forecasting, and profit planning. Costs to attend each program are $10 for current STEDCO members and $100 for non-members. Tickets may be purchased at the door, however, RSVPs are appreciated.
