E-T Staff Report
An organizational meeting to establish The Friends of the Stephenville Historical Museum will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, in the meeting room of the Center Grove School on the grounds of the museum, located at 525 E. Washington Street.
The museum board recently created the Friends of the Stephenville Historical Museum to serve as a support group to help with museum activities. The Friends group will function similarly to the Friends of the Dick Smith Library and the Friends of the Stephenville Public Library.
Complimentary Charter memberships in The Friends of the Stephenville Historical Museum have been distributed to donors of $100 or more to the museumís Oxford House Preservation Fund. Paid yearly memberships are available to non-donors at $10 for Individual; $15 Family; $25 Sponsor (businesses); and $50 Corporate (large corporations).
The meeting's agenda will include election of officers, development of bylaws, and information regarding the major events sponsored yearly by the museum. These include The Native & Heirloom Plant Fair in April, Camp Pioneer in June, and By Gone Days on the Bosque in October, as well as numerous school field trips that visit the museum each school year.
Current members and anyone interested in joining The Friends of the Stephenville Historical Museum are encouraged to attend and become participants in the museumís activities. For more information, call Dianne Wilson at 965-1325 or the museum at 965-5880.
