Special to the E-T

Child Abuse is heartbreaking. Imagine the fear of young victims as they move through the tangled maze of a judicial system that will decide their futures. Who is there to listen to the child and ensure their interests and feelings are served?

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) trains volunteers from all walks of life to act as court-appointed special advocates for abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers are there when a child needs someone most. In a system of over-burdened caseloads, CASA volunteers have the time and energy to devote to the children they are serving.

With child abuse on the rise and cases that are currently being covered by staff, CASA is in need of volunteers.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, call Cristie Campbell at 254-965-6610. Training will begin April 18. Deadline to turn in an application is April 4.
