Those with an adventurous appetite and looking for a night of fun, pay attention.
The Upland Bird Extravaganza is almost here and those with a unique craving for rattlesnake, buffalo ribs, rabbit stir fry and raccoon - a few of the event's main entrees - are in luck. Members of the Evening Lions Club are already busy getting ready for the annual feast and auction that will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 4, at City Hall at City Limits. Doors open at 5.
Now in its 19th year, the Upland Bird Extravaganza is the first part of a two-day fundraiser that has raised tens of thousands of dollars over the years.
"This is our biggest fundraiser of the year," said event chair Brandon McDonald. "We encourage the community to come out and support us Friday. Come early so you have a chance to look over the auction items and get a good seat. We are hoping to have a packed house."
The evening will include silent and live auctions with items like a Kel-Tec KSG shotgun, a bronze sculpture, TV and gun safe among the items up for bid.
Proceeds from the event benefit various youth programs throughout the area including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H and the Stephenville Soccer Association.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $20, but attendees are encouraged to grab a coupon for $10 off price of admission from any Evening Lions Club member.
The fun will continue at 8 a.m. Saturday with shooting events at Lone Star Sporting Clays in Glen Rose.
